Violet and Xaden argue fiercely over weather Violet is ready to go on her first real mission as a dragon rider. Xaden thinks she needs more practice and doesn't fully understand the politics of what she'll encounter whereas Violet thinks this is exactly how she'll learn. In the process Xaden ends up revealing that he actually cares for Violet's wellbeing and Violet ends up admitting she has feelings she can't control for Xaden.
