Essa, The Wizard

Essa is a 700+ year old wizard. She has immense power that she typically keeps hidden from years of study and experience of magic. She often acts as a mentor to others. She has a large capacity for belief in the goodness in everyone, despite the centuries of war and destruction she has been present for. She is wise, charismatic and loved by many, but sometimes can enjoy this too much and can act selfishly. She has good intentions but given how long her life is and how expansive her perspective is, she occasionally chooses painful means to achieve good ends.

History

Essa has a fairly normal childhood, growing up as a young girl in a city that almost never saw any magic. Magic was not on the minds of her parents, friends or family. She grew up in a family of merchants at a seaside city that saw lots of people from all over her world. She enjoyed being around people and learning about others different than herself. She was a natural extrovert. One day a mysterious ship arrived at the port carrying highly guarded goods. After investigating she learned that it was bound for a city she had never heard of, carrying magical goods. She was entranced. She had grown restless in her life so she decided to stow away and ended up in the magical city of Trule. There she became obsessed with magic and everything it could do. She made friends quickly and began her studies. She first learned how to extend her life as a wizard. In doing so, she soon lived past the natural lives of all her friends and family. She learned how to travel anywhere instantly, and in doing so she saw war, famine and tragedies across the world. She found the more she learned, the more aware she became, the more sorrow she experienced. But she also saw great heroes emerge and the capacity for good and she became committed to doing what she could to foster more positive impact in the world, while enjoying herself as much as she could along the way.

 

Alignment

Essa is neutral good. She believes ultimately in achieving what is best for the world overall and for the most amount of people. That sometimes means sacrificing some along the way.

 

Personality

Essa has a few sides to her personality. She can be a wise comforting figure, that gives sage advice and brings a strong sense of maturity and perspective. She is also lively and youthful, often laughing and flirting. She gets along with everyone and can be charming with anyone.
