Jennifer "JJ" Jareau is a Supervisory Special Agent in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Initially serving as the team’s Communications Liaison, she later transitions into the role of a profiler. History

JJ grew up in East Allegheny, Pennsylvania, where she experienced significant personal loss at a young age when her sister committed suicide. This tragedy profoundly shaped her empathy and resilience. JJ joined the FBI after excelling academically and athletically, quickly earning a place in the BAU. Early in her tenure, she served as the team's media liaison, managing press and law enforcement communications. Over time, her skills and commitment led to her becoming a full-fledged profiler. Her career includes notable moments of personal and professional growth, such as being temporarily reassigned to the Pentagon and navigating life as a working mother while maintaining her dedication to the BAU.
