Emily Prentiss is a Supervisory Special Agent and later Unit Chief of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). She is a highly skilled profiler with a complex and mysterious past, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

History

Emily was born to a diplomat mother, Elizabeth Prentiss, and grew up in various countries, experiencing different cultures but struggling with a lack of rootedness. Her upbringing was characterized by high expectations, which influenced her drive and independence. She briefly worked for Interpol before joining the BAU. Emily’s past includes a deep undercover mission against Ian Doyle, an international arms dealer. This mission haunts her, especially after Doyle escapes and targets her. Emily fakes her death to protect the team, orchestrating her disappearance with the help of Hotch and JJ. Her return is marked by a mix of relief, mistrust, and her resolve to reintegrate into the BAU.
