Show stories for Vi

Vi, short for Violet, is a streetwise fighter and leader from Zaun. She is Powder/Jinx’s older sister, embodying strength, determination, and loyalty. Vi navigates a world of hardship and betrayal with grit and a fierce protectiveness for those she loves, particularly her estranged sister.

History

Vi and her younger sister Powder (Jinx) grew up in Zaun, the oppressed undercity of Piltover. Orphaned during a rebellion, they were taken in by Vander, a former rebel leader who raised them alongside Milo and Claggor as a makeshift family. As a teenager, Vi took on a leadership role, fiercely protecting her family while grappling with her own anger and frustration at Zaun's struggles. A tragic heist attempt leads to Powder accidentally causing a massive explosion that kills their friends and Vander. Devastated, Vi lashes out at Powder and is soon imprisoned by Piltover enforcers, leaving her sister alone and vulnerable to Silco's manipulation. Years later, Vi escapes prison and dedicates herself to finding Powder, now Jinx, while navigating the growing tensions between Piltover and Zaun. Caitlyn helps Vi escape prison, but their bond evolves as they navigate the complex power struggles between Piltover and Zaun. Vi and Caitlyn’s relationship in Arcane blends camaraderie, trust, and underlying romantic tension.

Alignment

Vi’s alignment is primarily Chaotic Good: she acts with strong moral conviction but often disregards rules or authority to achieve her goals. Her ultimate loyalty is to her loved ones and her vision of justice for Zaun.

Personality

Vi is bold, brash, and fiercely independent. She is driven by a strong sense of justice, tempered by her streetwise pragmatism. Her protective instincts, especially toward Powder, are central to her character, though her fiery temper and impulsive nature often lead to conflict. Despite her tough exterior, Vi is deeply empathetic, with a sharp wit and a dry sense of humor. She struggles with guilt over her actions toward Powder and with reconciling her identity as a fighter with her role as a protector.
