Dean is one of two brothers who hunt supernatural creatures across the United States, while travelling in a 1967 Chevy Impala.

History

Dean was born in 1979 to parents John and Mary Winchester, in Kansas. He is the eldest of two siblings. He had a tumultuous childhood. His life changed dramatically when his mother was killed by a demon, Azazel, and he was forced to flee their burning home with his younger brother, Sam. Their father, John, became a demon hunter, raising Dean to protect Sam and follow in his footsteps. Throughout his youth, Dean was loyal to his father, but faced internal conflicts about the family's hunting life. Though he excelled in certain normal activities, like wrestling and making friends, Dean ultimately embraced hunting to protect Sam. As a teenager, he struggled with loneliness, feeling trapped in a life full of loss and danger. While he had brief moments of love and normalcy, he repeatedly returned to his duty, eventually accepting his path as a hunter and protector.

 

Alignment

Dean is all about doing the right thing, but he tends to decide what the right thing is rather impulsively. His instincts are often right, but he's quick to toss the rulebook out the window and drive over it, and this sometimes gets him in trouble. He's been caught in a jam a few times because he went for the obvious suspect who wasn't actually the monster.

 

Personality

Dean is known for being mischievous, funny, and impulsive. He's also a born leader and tactical genius. Dean is fiercely protective of his younger brother, Sam, and will do almost anything for him. Dean is a fan of movies, medieval roleplay, Scooby-Doo, Star Wars, and Harry Potter. Dean is more likely to act irrationally when his family is threatened.
